OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent platform you can self-host. It connects AI models like Claude, GPT, and DeepSeek to the messaging apps you already use every day, including WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, and email, and runs business automation around the clock on infrastructure you control.
The category is growing fast. Gartner predicts that 33% of enterprise software applications will include agentic AI by 2028, up from less than 1% in 2024.
Unlike a chatbot you open and close, OpenClaw lives in your workflow. It reads your inbox, drafts your replies, runs your morning briefings, and routes leads into your CRM. No per-seat SaaS pricing, and your business data never leaves your server.

Why two agents?
OpenClaw works for the business. Hermes Agent works with me.
I also run Hermes Agent as my Chief of Staff. Different jobs, different agents. And two probably isn't the limit either. The question isn't how many agents you run, but how much they free up: work you'd rather not do, work that runs while you sleep, work that would otherwise need another hire.

n8n and Zapier are workflow automation tools. They connect apps and trigger actions. OpenClaw is an AI agent platform. It runs continuously, holds context, and decides what to do. You can use OpenClaw alongside or instead of n8n and Zapier. For SEA businesses, OpenClaw's native WhatsApp integration is the biggest practical difference.
Can OpenClaw automate WhatsApp messages?
Yes. OpenClaw connects to WhatsApp natively, no third-party gateway needed. Point it at your business inbox and it can read messages, draft replies, escalate to a human, and run workflows automatically. Given how dominant WhatsApp is for business across Southeast Asia, this is one of OpenClaw's most-used integrations.
How much does it cost to run OpenClaw?
A DigitalOcean Singapore droplet runs around $24 a month. Model API costs vary based on usage and which models you choose. Typically $20 to $40 a month for a small business workload. Total: around $50 a month for an entire team, versus $20 to $25 per user for ChatGPT Plus or per-task Zapier pricing.
